A hardwood floor that is cared for and maintained should last 100 years. A lot of school gyms and high rise apartment buildings have parquet wood floors. They last a long time and can withstand a lot of wear.
The difference with carpet or vinyl is the lifespan. They don’t last long and have to be ripped up and thrown out within a few years – obviously depending on wear.
