Actually Brazilian Direct has 3/4" x 3 x 18 unfinished Herringbone Santos Mahogany. That is parquet - correct? I think that should be fine.

Yep, that's considered to be a special parquet, and is glued directly to the concrete. Just be sure to hire a really good professional floor mechanic to sand this perfectly smooth, and consider doing the finishing yourself.
